I’m originally from Ireland and have been living here for 17 years. My husband is a kiwi; we’ve two kids, Eoghain 10, Ashlin 7. I’ve been working for the Hobsonville Land Company for eight years, starting when it was still an active airforce base. Being part of it from the start has been great. My job is around Placemaking – putting on or supporting events/art/history projects and activating spaces that help give residents a sense of place and connection to the area and each other. I love the area so much that we moved to Hobsonville Point around this time last year, and it’s even better than I imagined! Not only because my commute is now just a five-minute bike ride, but because I have made so many great friends. Hobsonville Point is a great place to live with walkable/cyclable access to Bomb Point, the Landing, shops, and excellent access to motorways.
With HLC taking on a new development in Northcote, I will be getting involved in that community too, which will be quite different to Hobsonville Point given there is an existing community from the start. It will be a great opportunity to work with that community to help have a positive impact there too.
